How to Find Your Healthy Weight Range

Healthy
WeightFor most people, BMI is an accurate indicator of your healthy weight range. If you are incredibly active however, your BMI can be misleading. As muscle weighs far more than fat, a bodybuilder of a healthy weight may have a BMI that states they are technically obese.

How to decide your ideal weight

Your BMI, or Body Mass Index, is calculated by dividing your weight by your height squared. This can be done with the imperial units of pounds and inches, or in metric kilograms and meters. For example, someone weighing 60kg and measuring 165cm tall would have a BMI of 22.04 – a healthy weight. Depending on whether your BMI is beneath 18.5, between 18.5 and 24.9 or above 25 dictates whether you are underweight, a healthy weight or overweight respectively. As muscle weighs more than fat, very active people may find themselves to the higher end of the healthy weight range. Bodybuilders may even find themselves in the overweight category. For this reason, your BMI should only be used as a rough guide when trying to determine your ideal healthy weight.
