Is there any difference between synthetic and natural resveratrol?

Synthetic resveratrol produced by fermentation is untested for safety and, like any genetically engineered food, may contain traces of genetic material and other contaminants. All natural wild polygonum cuspidatum, although a bit more expensive, is a far safer source and has been consumed by humans for hundreds of years without reported side effects or toxicity.
